Hayes (Brown), Helen
(10 oct. 1900, Washington, D.C., EE.UU.–17 mar. 1993, Nyack, N.Y.).

Actriz estadounidense. Comenzó su carrera en el teatro a la edad de cinco años y debutó en Broadway cuatro años después. Realizó una carrera ilustre al protagonizar producciones de Broadway como César y Cleopatra (1925), What Every Woman Knows (1926) y The Animal Kingdom (1932). Fue reconocida en EE.UU. como "la primera dama del teatro. Su menudo físico no reflejaba la imponente presencia escénica que la hizo memorable en María Estuardo (1933–34) y Victoria Regina (1935–39). Actuó en las reposiciones de La piel de nuestros dientes (1955), El zoo de cristal (1956) y El viaje de un largo día hacia la noche (1971). También participó en numerosos radioteatros y obras dramáticas para televisión, y obtuvo el premio de la Academia por las películas El pecado de Madelon Claudet (1931) y Aeropuerto (1970). Además, recibió tres premios Tony y la Presidential Medal of Freedom (Medalla presidencial de la libertad). Estuvo casada con Charles MacArthur.
